Yesterday I heard the happy news that two of my best friends, Sasha and Lucy Dolgy, are celebrating the arrival of their first baby, a son named Jack Dolgy.
Sasha and Lucy lived in Switzerland, but left for pastures new earlier in the year. They married in London on 01 July and Jason and I were privileged enough to be there and witness what was, for us, the most wonderful wedding we have attended. It was beautiful, hysterically funny, intimate and, quite simply, full of love.
I met Lucy in October 2008 and quite honestly, if it wasn’t for her, I don’t think I would be where I am now, or as happy. I met her when I was incredibly low suffering still from post-natal depression, and she literally “lifted” me and encouraged me to seek happiness in whatever form it took. Because of her belief and confidence in me, I put Jase and the kids through the “hell” of moving to a new area. I knew deep down it was for the best, but had I not had Lucy’s encouragement, I may not have trusted my own judgement. I had long ago lost confidence in myself and my abilities.
Fast forward to one year later. Boxes are still stacked in the garage, old furniture still waits to be sold or dumped, light fittings cry out to be embellished with the latest spotlights from IKEA.
But we are happy. And we have a great life. And I honestly feel it is because of Lucy.
To know that Sasha and Lucy are now beginning life with their new son, makes me so happy. In celebration of the event, I have written Jack a little poem; Jack and the Bean Talk.
Congratulations to you all and I wish you all the health, happiness and joy possible, in your future family life together.

p.s. we all miss you very much.
