Nestled delicately in his caring hands
Every movement, expression; cherished
Muddled months of worried bonding
Self-taught lessons in how to be “Dad”
His little girl; you learned to walk
Learned to talk and then to argue
Your questions divided and multiplied
Before the man without all the answers
A lifetime’s seasons tumbled by
Like coloured leaves; snapshots of time
Each one representing a moment
Forever now to dance in the wind of memory
A relationship thought to last a lifetime
Seems extinguished in a heartbeat
Empty spaces have new meaning
As the mist of mourning quietly descends
Memories now recaptured and held
In the hands of a family left behind
Every expression, movement; cherished
Moments reborn and given eternal life
He will always watch over you, protect you, love you and cherish you. The promises he silently made to you when he held you in his hands for the first time remain eternal.
